A worker died at an amusement park here after the ceiling of an attraction came crashing down while he was inspecting it, police said. Aichi Police Station officials suspect that the victim is Makoto Miura, 46, an employee of Senyo Kogyo Co., Ltd., which operates the attraction at Family Ai Land in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, where the fatal accident occurred on Monday. They are trying to confirm his identity. According to police, the disc-shaped ceiling of the "Family Swinger" ride suddenly came down while the victim was inspecting inside the cylindrical column supporting the ceiling at around 2:55 p.m. on Monday. The man died after being crushed under an inner structure that came down upon him inside the support column of the ceiling. Senyo Kogyo will suspend operation of the swing carousel and two other attractions it owns at the amusement park from Tuesday to conduct safety inspections. According to the Aichi Prefectural Government, the swing carousel was made in Italy and has a capacity of up to 32 people. The attraction was placed in operation when the amusement park was part of the Expo 2005 Aichi Japan venue.
