Saturday, May 17th witnessed another major step forward to the 2nd Stage development of their one act play festival. A very informative and helpful seminar was held in Auburn to help new playwrights with their structure of the one act play. Attending were eight hopeful authors who would like to see their work produced on a local stage. All of the attendees were involved in a spirited conversation about their and other works. Excerpts from plays were read and dialog was encouraged regarding the content and structure of them. Attendees were also asked to write a one act play and were given an hour to come up with a play that contained information about their most favorite person and their least favorite. The results were more than gratifying as plays were submitted ranging from high comedy to drama to political farce. From talking lizards to memories of a grandfather, the participants managed to cover a gamut of emotions. Bourke Kennedy organized the event and managed to keep the long afternoon interesting and challenging. We are all looking forward to the next event that the ever inventive 2nd State participants, come up with.
