2006 BLUEGRASS FAIR

The Bluegrass Fair at Masterson Station Park is 10 days of scream-producing rides, mud-flinging motor sports and entertaining exhibits. Here are some of the sights and sounds of the annual summer event. We only wish we could provide the taste and smell of a funnel cake.

Truth be told, with the $$$ spent so that my new friends Ashley and Stephanie could win a couple of dozen giant panda bears, I probably could have BOUGHT a couple of dozen giant panda bears.

The Hamlin Fireman's Carnival may be outgrowing its name. In its 55th consecutive year of operation, the carnival boasts more family entertainment than ever before including nearly a dozen different bands. The event is open to the public August 3-6.

Long past the stroller stage, we no longer have to go from ride to ride on the always hectic, and at least this past week, very hot midway. Now with simple - but stern - command, we turned the girls loose with their buddies and Marie and I retreat to the friendly and shaded confines of the beer tent.

Does this make us bad parents? No way man, I consider this an advantage for the “seasoned” fair parent.
