I tried to fight the good fight. My ranting about how carny games were rigged, and that getting the giant stuffed dog was a waste of money fell on deaf ears. So, forty damn dollars and an unbelievable amount of crazy carny banter later, we walked away with three stuffed dogs. Not the gigantic ones, but what could generously be called medium sized. The kids need to work on their hitting balloons with darts skills.

Suggestion on how to use.
Why not get three or four buddies to team up and set a time for a group chat. Who knows, you may be famous within a few weeks.

When you first enter the chat room you will be asked to select a handle and password. You can type anything into either of these boxes. Your handle will be reserved for this one session only.

California Governor appoints six to Fair Board

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed six members to the Nevada County Board of Directors.

Ottawa Riverfest 2007

Even as the city's downtown changes around it, Ottawa's downtown summer festival will continue unchanged - for now. Tuesday, the Ottawa City Council designated July 25 to Aug. 5 as the dates for Riverfest 2007. The Council also approved an agreement with Spectacular Midways of Calumet Park to again serve as the festival's carnival service. "They were clean and efficient and very good last year," said Commissioner Wayne Eichelkraut, who oversees the city's annual two-week long midsummer bash. "So we thought we'd bring them back again." The city does not pay the carnival service any fees for the service, but rather contracts to receive a percentage of the revenue grossed by the carnival during its week-long run in Ottawa. Eichelkraut said the city's 2007 celebration will continue as Riverfest has generally continued in recent years, unchanged. "It'll be basically the same this year as it was last year," said Eichelkraut. "We've got a good thing going here."

Discuss, argue or provide the topics of the day about the Amusement Industry plus loads of off-topic subjects.

We will be adding several mods that will provide amusement and amazement. The site is currently in Beta, but you are all invited, now. Board colors in the sample pic will be changing.

The Board of Directors of the Association of Iowa Fairs inducted Tom and Sue Barnes of Cresco into the Association of Iowa Fair's “Hall of Fame”. The honor was presented to them at the Association's 2006 Conference and Annual Meeting, which was held Dec. 15, 16 and 17 at the Holiday Inn Airport in Des Moines

The Scott County Fairgrounds are oddly quiet, yet beautifully peaceful in early winter. The barns and buildings are all shut up and locked, there are no bright lights nor tinny music wafting from the carnival and the smell of mini-donuts and cotton candy is noticeably absent. Are the Scott County Fairgrounds asleep for a long winter's nap? Not quite. “It takes 360 days of work for five days of fun," Fair Manager Jim Luce said. According to Luce, the County Fair is among the top five or six in the state and among the top five in attendance, which has averaged 40,000 over the past several years. Last year's extremely hot weather caused a significant drop — only 25,000 attended the fair. Luce is convinced that these low numbers can be attributed to the uncomfortable heat and humidity. Plans for the 2007 Scott County Fair on July 25-29 began after the gates closed on the 2006 event. For the first week to 10 days after the fair closes, there is a massive cleanup effort going on. "We also take a little time to catch our breath," said Luce. Then he and the Scott County Fair Board, which Luce calls a real working board, start to work on booking major food and commercial vendors, finalizing carnival contracts, allocating outdoor space around the grounds and evaluating fair attractio
