Link: 2 Children Injured on Fair Ride
A carnival ride that injured two children last week in Mercer County, is up and running again in Bracken County. The "Sizzler" was shut down after the lap-bar came up while the ride was moving. A six year old boy was cut on his head and required medical attention. His seven year old brother suffered minor injuries. The Department of Agriculture is responsible for inspecting all rides in Kentucky just once a year. A spokesperson there says the lap-bar failed because of a worn spring. "Our investigator directed the ride operator to change all of the springs and all of the latches on that ride, the operator did, so our inspector re-inspected the ride, and upon satisfaction, opened it back up" said Ted Slone from the Department of Agriculture. It's unclear whether the two children were even tall enough for the ride, or if they were accompanied by an adult.
