The president and general manager of State Fair Park says an exposition center could be built there during the coming years. Tim O'Toole says the expo center would cost between $30 million and $50 million to build and that construction on the project could begin within five years. State Fair leaders would like the project to be included among those funded by a possible MAPS 3 sales tax. The MAPS 3 initiative is still in the idea stage and, if approved by Oklahoma City voters, would follow the original Metropolitan Area Projects plan as well as the MAPS for Kids proposal. Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett is noncommittal about the inclusion of the expo center in MAPS 3. He says it's a good idea but there are no shortage of good ideas. O'Toole says an expo center with 300,000 square feet of space would allow State Fair Park officials to attract national trade shows for cars, boats, street rods and recreational vehicles
