PLANT CITY, FL -- The annual Strawberry Festival kicked off Thursday for an 11-day run. The gates open at 10 a.m. and the midway opens at noon. The annual Plant City event is offering up big name entertainment for the event which runs through March 8th. The headliners include: Taylor Swift, Jeff Foxworthy, Jessica Simpson, Travis Tritt, Julianne Hough and many more. Swift's show on Sunday is a sellout, but a limited number of free bleacher seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The midway features 80 rides as well as more than 100 games and food concesssions. And...don't forget about all that delecious strawberry shortcake. General admission is $10 at the gate. Thursday is Senior Citizen Day. Visitors 60 and older get $2 off the gate price. The Florida Strawberry Festival heritage dates back to 1930 when members of the newly organized Plant City Lions Club conceived the idea of an event to celebrate the region's strawberry harvest. The event is in the top 30 of such festivals in America. For more information go to: http://www.flstrawberryfestival.com/index.html
