To make it easier for those attending, an all-new ‘Mega Pass’ is being offered that will allow one individual gate admission to all nine days of the Fair, unlimited carnival rides for all nine days to the Murphy Brothers Carnival, as well as free admission to all the grandstand shows for the entire run of the Fair.
A special introductory cost of $50 for the Mega Pass has been extended to June 15. After that date, the price goes up to $60; and beginning July 10 the amount will increase to $70. Tickets are available at all area Stop-N-Go stores and at the Fair office.
The Murphy Brothers Carnival will also be a part of the midway entertainment this year, and will be teaming up with Fargo-based Games Galore to provide a wide variety of activities for all ages, all included in the Mega Pass and daily ride pass tickets, with the ride passes available only at all local Stop-N-Go stores at a cost of $25 or at the Fairgrounds for $30 for unlimited carnival rides for one day. Daily ride tickets do not include gate admission.
Cliffhanger.
This is a story about carnies, living and working on the road. They're already sensational. This brief web journal is about them and for them. Text and photos ©SUSAN ADCOCK unless otherwise noted. Thanks for looking.

Games Galore and Murphy Brothers announce midway partnership | West Fargo Pioneer | West Fargo, North Dakota.
Games Galore Party Rental has announced a partnership with Murphy Brothers Exposition to provide midway entertainment. Gerald Murphy, Murphy Brothers Chairman, said, “We’re looking forward to having Games Galore included with the great Murphy Brothers midway. Combining the inflatables and the new Mega Pass will appeal to all age groups.” The reason for the partnership stemmed from a growing number of requests. “Fair board members throughout the upper midwest have requested numerous times that they would like carnivals and inflatable companies to work together to provide the midway atmosphere,” said Dave Lerud, President of Games Galore. Games Galore will provide the inflatables for fairs throughout North Dakota including West Fargo, Bottineau, Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Minot and Pembina and Wells counties. The state fairs in New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Wisconsin will have the Games Galore inflatables as a part of their midway. Lerud predicts that the inflatable games trend for town festivals and carnivals will continue to grow. “We are seeing more and more civic organizations switch from traditional carnival games to inflatable games,” Lerud said. “Today’s families are more attracted to the active-style games rather than s

“We’re going to try to continue to improve,” says Jon Warren, 50, chairman of the most successful Fayetteville Dogwood Festival in history. With an estimated record attendance of 200,000 for the three-day festival Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Warren and the festival board of directors have become victims of their own success. “It’s really a huge event,” Warren says. “We were bursting at the seams. I saw lots of smiles and a lot of happy people.” There were, festival officials say, about 18,000 assembled in Festival Plaza Park on Friday as .38 Special rocked the evening. “And there were another 25,000 on the (carnival midway), the promenade and Hay Street who didn’t care about what was going on inside the park,” Warren says. That, he says, is the essence of the festival that “there’s something for everybody.”
