Despite difficult economic times, thousands of Mississippians are flocking to the annual state fair.
In addition to looking for a good, wholesome time with their families; Mississippians were also looking for the best deals and prices.
While some prices went up, many fairgoers found ways to enjoy themselves without breaking their wallets.
Aside from the regular rides and booths, the fair also featured tents with free activities such as wordless book story reading and a petting zoo.
Other families who were looking to spend, said the trick was to buy in bulk. One man said he saved $9 by buying 55 ride tickets for $60.
Despite the higher prices, most fairgoers said the state fair was still a good draw.
"It's still cheaper than Disney World to come do something like this," said Paul Grace, who visited the fair from Orlando.
Others said sharing the state fair experience with their children was priceless.
"I want them to get the experience I had when I was six," said Brian Donaldson. "So I brought my son out here to get the experience of the fair."
The fair is also featuring discounted days. Starting Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 1 a.m., fairgoers can ride all they want for $20. On Monday, fairgoers can ride all they want from noon to 10 p.m. for $25.
Organizers said Tuesday and Wednesday next week are designated family nights, which means fairgoers can ride all they want for $25 on both nights. Friday is kid's day, which means all rides are discounted one ticket.
Next Sunday, the last night of the fair, fairgoers can ride all they want for $25.
