SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - It might be too cold to think of Ferris wheels right now. But state officials say an Illinois State Fair Mega Pass is a perfect holiday gift. The Illinois Department of Agriculture is offering 2010 mega passes at the reduced rate of $50. That's a $10 savings. The offer is good through Dec. 22. The mega pass gives young people access to more than 50 Carnival Midway and Adventure Village rides at the state fair in August. It's good all 10 days of the fair -- Aug. 13 to 22 -- as well as preview night. The pass is not valid for admission to the fairgrounds or rides on the Skyglider and Giant Slide.
